Medical Marijuana Relief Clinic (Sherman Oaks, CA):
I asked a Weed Mapper named 91Malibu ChemDawg (who’s been to 250+ dispensaries) which dispensary had the best marijuana in Southern California and he said Medical Marijuana Relief Clinic. Needless to say, I had high expectations when I visited MMRC and they lived up to the hype. They have some of the best marijuana I’ve ever sampled.
The staff and growers from the legendary Green Angels of Malibu now work with MMRC. Located in Sherman Oaks, about a half hour north of West Hollywood, the dispensary is near a huge carwash and an awesome hot dog stand. The location itself looks kind of like a nice head shop.
They specialize in OG related strains (OG Kush, Chem Dawg, Pure Kush) with Pure Kush being their premier Indica. Pure Kush is a sister to OG Kush that was sold in the 90’s at crazy prices. After sampling many batches, I can see why. It is the finest strain I’ve ever sampled. The growers at MMRC have some pretty impressive genetics with a wide variation of originals from 1991. The 91 strains are their signature and they are fantastic.
My Picks: 91 Hollywood Pure Kush, Legendary Pure Kush, 91 West Hollywood Fire OG, 91 Malibu Fire OG, 05 West Hollywood Wicked Pure Kush. Any strain grown by GAM’s growers (including 91 and Legendary strains) are of the highest quality and worth trying.

Top 5 in San Diego:
1.) Green Works (pictured above and below):
Formerly known as Nuggetry SD, Green Works is a unique dispensary in East San Diego specializing in Indicas and specifically OG and Bubba Kush. They have a wide variety of impressive strains and offer good specials and a frequent member program. Their vibe is very unique and their staff is one of the best. GW’s location is in an old house and their budroom is reminiscent of an underground coffee shop.
My picks: 619 Vader OG, 619 SFV OG, 619 Alien OG Bubba, Super Platinum Bubba Kush, DJ Short Blueberry, Master Kush, Burgundy Goo, Cotton Candy Bubba and GDP. Basically, any 619 OG or staff recommended Indica is worth trying.

2.) Farm Associated Collective:
Farm was formerly a private collective that now accepts new patients. They have consistent all around quality with a nice variety of strains. They have some of the best examples of Headband in the city. Their staff is knowledgeable and especially helpful. I typically recommend that first time patients start at Farm.
My picks: M&M Bubba Kush, Blueberry Headband, P-91, Grand Reserve Headband.
3.) San Diego Holistic Healing:
San Diego Holistic Healing is a solid all around spot by the beach in Bird Rock. They have a nice laid back vibe and pretty good prices for their quality. They have delicious Sativas and a wide selection of high quality OGs. They are also known for potent concentrates and edibles.
My picks: Grape Master, King’s Bread, Lemon G13, Grand Daddy Purple, Earth OG and Saturn OG.
4.) Green Crop:
Green Crop has a strong selection in each overall category. They have very nice OGs, Sativas and one of the better Bubbas in the city. Their Blue Dream is one of the best I’ve sampled.
My picks: Blue Dream, Sour Diesel, Bubba Kush.
5.) Frosty Farms:
Frosty Farms is a relatively new dispensary that has quickly gained a loyal following. They specialize in high quality “frosty” local product. Many people say they have the best Blackberry Kush and Jack Herer in the city. They feature many unique strains including Shaman’s Kush, an excellent hybrid with a minty taste. They have pretty good prices as well. They offer 2 top shelf grams for $30 every day, excellent for their quality.
My picks: P-91, Blackberry Kush, Shaman’s Kush, Jack Herer.

Of note in Orange County:
1.) CPA/Nuggetry:
CPA/Nuggetry in Santa Ana was recently taken over by Chubbs, the infamous former co-owner of Nuggetry SD. He’s best known for his popular YouTube videos and websites including www.marijuanareviews.com and www.medicalmarijuanabootcamp.com. CPA’s location is very large and looks like a high end jewelry shop. The operation is run impressively and they feature a wide selection of top shelf strains. They are also known for their potent concentrates.
My picks: Chunkle, N1 OG, Nuggetry OG X Tahoe OG
2.) South Coast Patients Center:
South Coast Patients Center is located across the street from CPA/Nuggetry and the owners of the two spots don’t seem to like each other too much. SCPC is known for their Liquid Butter OG, a very tasty OG that’s cured in a Chinese Clay Pot.
My pick: Liquid Butter OG

My Favorites in Amsterdam:
1.) Grey Area:
Grey Area is a small, but famous coffee shop run by Americans. Their walls are filled with photos of the many celebrities who have visited. The shop has a cozy vibe and features some special strains. An amazing chocolate shop is right around the corner. Visiting Grey Area ensures a memorable experience.
My picks: Master Kush, Big Buddha Cheese, Sour Cream.
2.) Barney’s:
Barney’s is a legendary coffee shop with a huge operation. They have won many Cannabis Cups and have first-rate quality. They had a one of a kind breakfast bar in their shop that was a must visit. The original bar closed recently, but they still offer food in one of their locations.
My picks: Amnesia Haze, G-13, Blue Cheese.

How does the quality in Amsterdam compare to Southern California?
Generally speaking, I’ve found that Southern California has better Indicas, specifically Pure Kush and OG Kush. Amsterdam has better Sativas, especially Hazes. With that said, I’ve found some excellent Sativas in California and top flight Indicas in Amsterdam. I’ve found my favorite batches of G-13, Master Kush and Big Buddah Cheese in Amsterdam and quality batches are harder to find in California. I’ve also had batches of Blue Dream in California that rival many of the Hazes from Amsterdam. Bottom line, if you go to the above mentioned spots, quality won’t be an issue.
